Gratitude Update
October 25th, 2007 | by Jeniffer |A week ago, I accepted a thirty day challenge to again begin my once-daily gratitude journal sessions. Happily, gratefully, I have done so. While some of my musings are personal in nature and pertain to certain people, I find most of what I am grateful for is given to us, for no reason, and by no person. Each is simply a gift. Some examples from my journal include:
-the incredible weather, which has allowed me and my family to spend time out of doors in October and have BBQs as though it were summer
-the trees, which are so beautiful at this time of the year! Reds, golds, yellows and greens surround us. Beautiful, and now and again I find the sun shines directly upon them, illuminating them like some giant spotlight. Gorgeous!
-Walking. I am so grateful for walking. The ability to walk, to move from place to place, to get where we are going–how can we be given such a great gift, yet never give it any thought unless we no longer have it?
-our health. We are lucky indeed, because (knock wood!) we are all healthy. I know how even a cold can knock any of us out for a week. Imagine, not having your health? Or watching a loved one as they lose theirs.
-I’m so grateful for my family. I come from a wonderfully large, unique family. I don’t see them as often as I would like to, because we live far from each other. But there is always laughter when we do see one another.
-I’m grateful for my dad.
-I’m grateful for the mom I had, and for the many years I was able to know her
-I’m grateful for my kids
-I’m grateful to the readers of this blog, and for the opportunity to actually have one. We can express ourselves so freely in this country–it really is such a blessing! Imagine, not being able to do so.
-I am so grateful, every single day, that my mother passed her love of reading, and of good writing, on to me. I truly hope my daughter gets this great gift as well.
-I am always, always, grateful for my children
That is a small sample of what I have been grateful for.
Five things per day, every day, and not even one week gone by yet.
What are you grateful for?
