I started this blog as many people start blogs, with the intention of monetizing it. There is a great variety of available blog advertising, and I’ll write about other methods later.

Advertising on blogs works. It works for the companies who place the ads, because it spreads the word about their product or service. A single ad on a given site can reach thousands of potential customers in one day. Many more thousands than that, over time.

It works for those who have blogs, because then you can blog for money. Being paid to write is many a blogger’s dream.

There are several ways you can get paid when you have a blog. You can get paid when someone clicks on some ads, paid just to have the ad, or paid when you refer someone to an advertiser’s program.

Different programs have different prerequisites for their associates. These can range from type of content to how long the blog has been active to number of posts. They let you know what they are when you sign up for them.

Recently, I discovered Smorty, where you get paid to write an opinion post about something. You get paid to blog!

If I find something in my daily life such as a product or a service, and I feel it would in some way be useful/fun/interesting for my readers, I will write a post about it.

I would do the same with Smorty–if their advertiser is selling a product or a service which will add value to my readers, I will write a post about it. And I would be paid to do so.

Of course, I became an affiliate.

Smorty is a service which displays potential advertisers to potential writers (bloggers), who may then choose to write a post about a given service.

There is no minimum requirement on number of accepted offers, and no pressure to accept an offer once it is displayed. If you do not want to do a post about something, you simply refuse it. Someone else will likely accept it.

You get paid directly into your Paypal account. No waiting to ambush the mail carrier each day to see if there is a check for you yet.

There are reports easily accessible online for you to view, and you can see at a glance what your earnings thus far have been.

They also have a very nice referral program, which is great because it is ongoing.

When someone uses your link to sign up for the program, then writes posts for Smorty, you get a commission on their payment. For every post they do, as long as they keep doing posts.

This provides a nice income stream for the future.

The more people who sign up through you, the more money you can make.

And they are given the same opportunity to earn.
