6 Changes While You Weight

November 27th, 2007 | by Jeniffer |

I did an unusually girlish thing for me to do the other day.

I put polish on my toenails.

I did this, to celebrate the fact of making it through week one of my newest thirty day challenge.

Then I got to thinking–what else would I be able to do, to make myself feel better and more pampered/special, while I embark on my other obsession–losing a few pounds?

Taking your mind off losing weight as the main focus of your existence can help with motivation.

With that thought in mind, here are some changes you can do, some short term results, some which take longer.

Changes you can make while you lose weight…

1) One thing, other than the obvious weight-related workout and eat healthy, plus drink lots of water–find a workout buddy.

If you have someone who will meet with you for walks, at the gym if that is where you workout, or even encourage you via email, this can be incredibly motivating.

Make yourself accountable.

Begin a blog about your journey.

Find a workout buddy, and keep them updated while they do the same for you.

2) One thing you can do for a very quick change is do something different with your hair.

If you always wear it loose, try pulling it up.

If you play it straight, try curls.

Wear it short, wear it long…change the color or just add highlights.

Looking good can help keep you going.

And again, it helps to take your focus off your weight.

3) Brighten your smile.

There are tooth whitening toothpastes, or if you are more daring and your dentist says they’re OK, there are many ways to whiten that smile.

There are whitening strips, gels, lasers–ask you dentist which one is right for you.

It’s another quick boost to keep you going.

4) If you are drinking as much water as is recommended (6-8 8-oz cups per day), you should begin to notice a definite improvement in your skin.

Why not play that up, by wearing flattering colors or textures close to your face?

As well, if you are the type, you could try different types of makeup. I have seen free makeup makeovers at major stores near where I live, and you might even want to indulge in one of these.

5) Get your brows done.

Tweezing, waxing, or otherwise de-furring your eyebrows can make a noticeable difference in the blink of an eye.

Try it, if you haven’t already.

Make certain to go to someone who knows what they are doing, to avoid ending up with the dreaded pencil-drawn eyebrows look, however!

6) Try a little nail polish.

With such a variety of colors, shades and shininess available on the market, there is bound to be something for everyone’s taste.

And don’t forget those neglected toenails, while you’re at it!

Who says you can’t look great while you lose weight?
