Acts of Kindness

November 30th, 2007 | by Jeniffer |

I just read a post over at Zen Habits, about performing acts of kindness and how rare it is that people do so nowadays.

So I have another thirty day challenge for my readers!

Do something kind for someone, every day, whether you know them or not.

For thirty days.

Examples: opening doors for people whose hands are full

saying a sincere “thank you”

helping someone carry a bag of items which looks like it may be too heavy for them

visit someone you know who is in a retirement home

bring soup and crackers to someone who has a cold

walk someone’s dog for them if they do not have the time, or are too ill to do so

babysit for someone who could really use a break

let someone you know is having problems really discuss them with you, showing interest, and if it is warranted and sincere, perhaps offering helpful suggestions

buy a hot chocolate for that person dressed as Santa Claus, collecting money for the poor, in the freezing cold

donate clothing to a homeless shelter

donate anything to a homeless shelter

give books to your children

give food to the Food Bank

help the United Way, who help out in your own community and around the world

help out a charity of your choice, with either goods, money, or your time

Come up with ideas of your own, and share them in the comments section below.

For thirty days, so fitting in particular in this holiday season, but really needed all year round, I will do a kindness for someone, every day. I hope you will do this challenge with me.

It’s another way to watch your life improve.
