The Thirty Day Makeover–Introduction

December 31st, 2007 | by Jeniffer |

O.K..

Let’s say that in spite of what you have read here, you have decided that the New Year, that in fact this New Year, is the best time for you to start making some big changes in your life.

This can work well, if

-these are changes you would be making, regardless of it being New Years or the seventeenth of July

and

-the changes you are thinking of making are related to a larger goal.

For instance if you want to lose weight (#1 New Years Resolution), but it is a part of a bigger goal of improving your health, it can work.  The weight loss is just a small part of a larger picture (and trust me, working on improving your health is way more important than losing a few pounds. Losing those pounds can almost become a pleasant side effect, when you view the process this way!).

As well, you must be doing this for yourself.

Do not try losing weight because aunt Fanny says you should.

Instead, do it for yourself, to feel better to yourself, to increase self-respect and self confidence, to be able to live a full, healthy life.

Do it as part of accepting responsibility for your own health, happiness, and choices now.

So–we’re all on the same page, right?

You’re going to make a difference in your life, starting now, whether you are reading this in early January or mid-June, and you’re going to do it because you deserve better.

In your life.

In your health.

Excellent!

I would LOVE to help you!

On that happy note, I would like to introduce you to thethirtydayyear’s first thirty day lifestyle makeover. This is a period of thirty days when I will suggest simple changes you can implement, to help you reach whatever goals you may have.

Perform each of these changes for the entire period, adding the next week’s, then the next, to build momentum and results.

This will help keep you motivated.

Of course, I have no way of knowing exactly what goals each of you have, so you may have some homework in figuring out what actions to take.

You will need a minimum of supplies for this–a notebook and a pen are essential, as are a willing spirit and positive attitude.

If it is a weight related change you wish to accomplish, I would also suggest a calorie guide, either online or in book form, as well as a good multi vitamin/mineral supplement.

As well, I have incorporated a forum you may use to discuss progress, encourage one another, suggest topics you would like to learn more about, and tell each other what goals you may have in relation to this lifestyle makeover.

It is a tool which I hope will help me to help you find success in what you are aiming to do in 2008. Of course, if no one is interested in using it, I will remove it after thirty days. We will see how that goes.

For now, what I would suggest for you to do would be to write down in your notebook, where you are in relation to the goal you have. If you want to lose weight, write your current weight, and your realistic goal weight, in your notebook. Want to start a blog? Write down where you are now in relation to that goal (knowledge acquired, hosting package picked out, time commitment, knowledge of a particular subject, etc), and where you want to be (i.e. to have a published blog). Then write down whatever steps you can think of to get you where you want to be–long term, medium term, and short term.

How can you accomplish what you have set out to do?

What resources are available to you, on the Internet, in books, in courses.

Is there someone who has accomplished what you want to, and could therefore help you achieve it?

Write it all down.

Brainstorm.
