3 Thirty Day Challenges of 2008–An Update
January 26th, 2008 | by Jeniffer |Thus far this year, I have taken on three thirty day challenges.
This is a report on my progress up until now, in each of them.
1) The first challenge I accepted was to make a Vision Board.
I have made no progress on this one so far, due to the fact that it requires pictures, usually obtainable from magazines.
I have no magazines in my house. I stopped buying them at the checkout last year, and I did not renew the subscription to the one to which I was subscribed. My old magazines have been donated to various waiting rooms in town.
My solution will be to look on sites where they allow you use of the photographs there, and create my Vision Board in that way.
However, I will not be able to do so until I have some time to go surfing through these photos.
I will not officially begin this thirty day challenge until that time.
2) A second one I am dong is exploring Google-y stuff.
So far, I have made use of the word processing ability of Google Docs (there is also spreadsheet ability, and you can choose to save you Docs in various formats, including .pdf, etc. Very handy.).
I also am trying out Gmail (no complaints so far), and Google Calendar.
I am using the calendar to track the progress of my initial thirty day challenges, with reminders, etc.
Again, so far, all is working well.
3) My third thirty day challenge of 2008 is to be more proactive in enriching the lives of others.
Wanting to help people was what prompted me to start this blog in the first place, and I am bringing it back to its original premise–a place to get tips and advice on living the best, healthiest, most productive and happy life you are able to live.
My steps in this area so far include cutting back from a daily posting schedule to 3-5 times per week, no longer doing posts on blogging or running a business, and removing some ads which I felt did nothing to help my readers in improving their lives.
At the same time, I decided that, rather than merely running an ad about Kiva, I would use this blog to promote awareness of the organization, by using 50% of donations to thethirtydayyear to fund loans through Kiva, to help those in under privileged areas to improve their lives.
It is my plan to do a monthly post regarding progress on this, including amount loaned, who it was loaned to, what they plan to do with the funds, and any progress I can uncover that they make in improving their lives. Of course, I cannot begin to do this until 50% of donations match the smallest loan amount I can find. Their ads suggest as little as $25.00 can change lives. I am hoping that this is true.
That is the progress on my challenges to date.
What challenges have you accepted in your life?
How are you setting about accomplishing them, and what progress have you made thus far?
