Joe’s Goals Update-Fantastic Five For Friday-Issue 14
February 22nd, 2008 | by Jeniffer |On January 23 of this year, I started using the goal tracking tool Joe’s Goals. Time for my thirty day report!
Some Background
“Joe” is actually Ian Smith, who designed, built, coded, and developed Joe’s Goals.
What Joe’s Goals is: an online tool for helping you track your goals.
Most popular goals being tracked: exercise, drinking water, not eating out, brush teeth, meditate, take vitamins, floss, read, workout, eat breakfast.
Also popular is not drinking pop.
Some people even use Joe’s Goals to track time spent with children, family, or friends.
I’ve been using it to track resistance training, cardio workouts, having no more than 1500 calories max, working on this site, and not drinking alcohol.
After Testing for 30 Days:Five Fantastic Things About Joe’s Goals
1) Joe’s Goals is free (there is also an option to pay $12.00 per year if you choose to do so).
2) Joe’s Goals is easy to use.
3) If you have put in a goal which you change your mind about, you can easily edit (ie delete) that goal without affecting those around it.
4) You can choose as many goals as you would like, and they can be positive goals (such as exercise) or negatives goals (you may want to cut back on going out for dinner, for instance).
5) There are reports, which you can look at for a 30, 60, or 90 day period, of your progress.
Tip:
For those times when you are going to be nowhere near a computer for awhile, you can track your goals manually between visits to the site. I had been doing this myself by drawing a similar graph on a piece of paper and using checkmarks. Choose whatever form may work for you.
I know you think you will remember, but I find having it written down in a place I will see every day to be invaluable. I kept track of mine in the same notebook I use for ideas and rough drafts of posts for this site.
Finally
As Ian (”Joe”) says in his blog,
“If, in all these checks and goals, just a handful of real people were given enough permission and enough encouragement to make a real difference in their own lives, Joe’s Goals has been a huge success. That has been my hope and prayer all along.”
You just gotta love someone who would do something so nice for people, based on such a great hope.
Joe’s Goals gets two thumbs up!
