Spring Body TuneUp Time-Week 1
April 25th, 2008 | by Jeniffer |As promised, this is the day I will present you with an update on my Spring Body Tuneup.
However, before doing that, I thought some general tips would be helpful
Benefits of Getting Physical
Getting physical has many benefits, much beyond the fact that you will look better.
Being active is a key to weight loss, it is true, plus it helps keep your cardiovascular system healthy.
As well, anything which benefits your cardiovascular system tends to also benefit your brain.
It burns calories, relieves depression, and enhances your muscle tone.
It improves your sex life, partially because of improved confidence, partly because of those cardiovascular improvements I was talking about, and partly because exercising regularly actually gives you more energy. You know, for working out, and things!
General Tips to Work Exercise Into Your Day, and To Help You Stick With Your Program
It is easy to work exercise into your day. Try parking as far as you can from wherever it is that you are going.
Take the stairs whenever possible, rather than escalators or elevators.
For more regimented forms of exercise, such as working out on a treadmill or very long walks, you should schedule the activity in. Pick a day and a time that is convenient for you, and use your pen to add it to your calendar. Using a pen means you better have a good excuse if you don’t do it, because you’ll be visually reminded that you did not every time you look at that page in your calendar.
Also, how you talk to yourself about an exercise program is important. Remain upbeat, reminding yourself of how good you will feel AFTER you have worked out. This is especially affective for those who tend to not “get into” the exercise portion of their day, until they have been working out for several minutes.
And get into it you will! Endorphins and all sorts of feel good hormones are released when you work out. Start moving, and you will see that this is true.
Your body LIKES to move, and so do you–it’s just sometimes we get so out of touch with ourselves that we may forget this.
Alternate your activities for working out. In this way, you can help prevent boredom from setting in. For instance, you could walk one day, swim the next, then bike ride. Whatever type of workout suits your fancy and abilities, try it.
And don’t be afraid to try something new!
As always, however, make sure you get your doctor’s ok before beginning an exercise routine. And if you’re going to change your way of eating, be certain you go over that with your doctor as well. They will be able to tell you if you have any underlying health conditions which may make doing so dangerous, or if in fact the regime you are planning on going on is dangerous.

Best Time Spent With Family: We went up to our property up north of us for the first time Saturday. Lots of work involved; we got lots done in preparation for the summer to come! But the best part was watching how much fun the kids had up there! We had a really great, family time!
Best Time Spent Alone: I spent much of my son’s naptimes this week making over this site and writing posts, two things which I really love to do.
Biggest Goal Achieved This Week: This week saw me finally doing two things which have been on my mind for a long time.
First, I upgraded to the latest WordPress available. Happy to say I’m lovin’ it so far. I even discovered how to pre-date posts for publication at a later date, which is something I like to do, Plus it will help with a series I have coming up Wednesdays starting in mid-May.
Secondly, and this one was interesting, I have been thinking about putting photographs on the site for awhile, but was not sure how to do it. I thought about it, several times, but until I updated the site, the means to do so eluded me.
The latest version of Wordpress has a handy little spot which highlights some of the available Plugins, and the very day I upgraded, there on the first line of this spot appeared something called “Photo Dropper”. This is an amazingly easy way to find photos on Flickr. You just type in keywords, and the photos appear. Click the size of the image you want to use, and it will apper in the space your curser is in the in window where you are writing your post. Couldn’t be easier! Try it, and be sure to check back to Flickr before uploading photos onto your site, to make certain you have the right to use them as you intend.
I also updated my About page.
All in all, a busy, productive week!
Oh, and for those who are wondering, I lost three pounds!
Big goal Set For Next Week: I have a series of guest posts for the site, set to begin publishing in mid-May. Next week, I will pencil in the schedule and begin converting the posts from my email onto my site, then edit through my own typos, etc to make certain each is at its absolute best. I anticipate this will take up quite a bit of my time!
As well, I will post three times next week, do cardio at least four times, and do a weight workout at least three times.
And I’m thinking cutting my calories back to about 1700 or less per day will give me better results!
Check in next week, for another update!
Total $ saved towards Shameless Bribe for Weightloss = $15.00!
That’s it for this week’s update. Have anything to add? Are you on a similar Spring Body TuneUp? Have any positive suggestions on how to improve the site, or ideas you would like to read more about? Why not share? Comments are always most welcome!
