A Gentle Reminder…A Tiny Review
May 23rd, 2008 | by Jeniffer |Ah, the to Do list, a small, hand-written note jotted down in between errands, placed carefully…somewhere…so that we do not forget what it is we want to do/buy/get, etc, at a later date. Now, if we could just remember where we left that list…or at least, recall a bit of what was on it!
Luckily for those of us who are list-fixated (I still prefer mine to be hand written), modern technology has improved our list making/note taking abilities, and even allowed us to have computers remind us of what we want to do/buy,get, etc.
We just have to know where to look for the information, where to put the information, and where to find it after it is sent to us.
Where to find it is easy; look no further than your favorite email inbox.
Where to send the information we want to be reminded about? Ah, we have several options.
And that is a good thing, because, if you are like me, you tend to have many projects on the go at the same time.
I have several goals, many of which need to be worked on consistently for a period of time, before coming to fruition, and some others which require just a day or so to be completed.
How to Keep Track of All of The things We Need To Do In Order To See Our Goals Completed?
I have been trying several ways.
First, and new to me, is Remember The Milk.
This one if available for Google calendar, Twitter, iPhone/iPod Touch, Gmail, and Balckberry.
It is good for setting up reminders of things you are planning to do, scheduling activities and keeping track of them.
Setting up an account is easy:; choose a username, password, enter your email information, and Presto! you have an account.
You are then given an email address to which you can send information about reminders to be sent to you at specified times, to help keep you on track with your goals and plans.
Next, there is I Want Sandy.
Again, opening an account is easy; just supply your email address to which your reminders will be sent, pick a password, agree to the terms and click to sign up.
They then send you an email address where you can send tasks to be reminded about.
To help Sandy remember something for you, you can begin a sentence with remember, or remind.
You can specify a time to be reminded, however if you do not, the reminder will be sent at 7 a.m.
The third, final, and favorite of mine, is Hassle Me, who proudly proclaim “because sometimes in life, you need to be hassled”.
Again, sign up is easy, and you can be hassled at whatever frequency you like (every two days, once a week, once a month, daily, etc).
So, with all of these reminders coming my way, what did I accomplish this week in my Stuff Reduction Program and other things I have been workin on?
-I painted the basement
-I started painting my office, but may re-think the color. It’s a sort of sky blue, which I picked because it was what we had on hand. However, I have a small office, and after painting just one wall, I put the roller away, to reconsider. The color makes the room look smaller…maybe if I painted in thin white lines at even intervals, vertical of course, it might look better. And the other walls will likely be a lighter shade. Maybe white? Not sure yet. We’ll see. Perhaps I’ll just have to start that room again!
-I sorted through my bedroom, getting rid of stuff, sorting stuff, throwing away the Lonely Socks Club, etc.
-I took two large bags of goods to Goodwill to donate
As far as the physical fitness thing goes…
This week, I have had both kids home with me. My daughter has a bad cough, and because my husband is on a week away with the guys, it’s just been me. I have done my strength/resistance work a couple of times, but all that cardio seems to have gone by the wayside. Even the resistance training wasn’t what I would have done normally. Sometimes, life just throws something your way, and you have to make room for it!
Next week, with my soon-to-be-healthy daughter back in school, my husband at work all day and home in the evenings, and things back to their previous norm, I will get right back on track.
I haven’t been using my pedometer at all, but am confident that if I had, the number would have been very low. I’ve been home, and you just don’t walk that much inside your own home!
Other Stuff
I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed an article to my first-ever guest Post Series: The Achievers.
This series is well under way (two published already!) and the lineup is amazing!
Come back on Wednesday, when Lodewjik van den Broek of How To Be An Original presents his unique answer to the question, what has had the most positive impact, made the biggest difference, in your life?
What did you accomplish this week? What trials and setbacks occurred? What has had the most positive impact, made the biggest difference, in your life? Why not share? Comments are always most welcome!

I am a loyal Sandy user. I’ve found it to be extremely intuitive, good at all the things that I’m bad at, and just downright cute. If you’re interested, I wrote about the ways I use “her” at my site.
